That saying… “The show must go on!” definitely plays a key role these days. We’ve had a few sessions booked for two artists. However, when one doesn’t show up with time and money being spent. There’s no room for waste. We did what we had to do. At first I’ve was extremely disappointed. Alex and James not so much. These two are use to this. I was just looking forward to wearing my producer hat for someone else.
I was reminded about how plenty of artists will skip a studio session. Then I thought about the autobiographies that came on “The Temptations” was a huge reminder.. I’m such a huge fan of David Ruffin. The good thing is that this was a solo artist. I was still elated that the other guys showed up. We’ve recorded two tracks for them. Also, they’ve recorded backing vocals for a hip hop track. It was a blast. There was tons of marijuana smoke in the air. I didn’t even get sleepy. It definitely helped my mood. I didn’t show it while the duo were recording. My face will give my whole attitude away. I guess with my shades on you really couldn’t tell.
We had a really good EDM track for this individual. She totally bailed out on me! With hitting me with tons of excuses later. With her not showing up. We were able to take our time with the guys and another gentleman who Alex is working with. We played the track and I began humming along and throwing words out there. Shawn suggested that I do something with the song. What? Huh? James laughed and told him that he didn’t understand why I won’t keep the song for myself. It was a bit too much for me. The drums were on a thousand. As time progressed, I’ve did a thing in the booth. I have to remember how many artists passed up a good song. Or, an actor forfeiting a movie role. The show must go on….
I would’ve loved to have had the experience with producing for Star. I guess, it wasn’t meant to happen that day. I now have a song completed and I’m definitely keeping it. It’s growing on me and my vocals sound really good. The tricks that you can do with vocals are amazing. As I’m writing this, I’m glad it happened. It’s like a you snooze you lose thing. What if… What if, this song does extremely well. I’m always going to mention that it was for someone else. They did a huge favor by not showing up to record. So, I couldn’t let it go to waste. Thanks Boo!!
