We have all been there… We end up in a few roles that we like, dislike and ended up being completely horrible at it. I’m talking about jobs. We take on most of the time… To keep the bills paid, you like the people you work with. Or, you really don’t have to do much. What happens when you get bored, frustrated, looking to advance further? You will likely end up kicking yourself in the butt.
Most people actually leave their jobs. Due to no room for advancement, they are being overworked and underpaid, they are given false promises. Or, there is no unity within the staff. Sometimes… We get a boost of self-esteem, they figure out what is that they want do. Sometimes fear will get a hold of you. I have a few friends that are transitioning into new positions. I asked them…”Why, the change?” I also told them I was in their shoes. I totally get it… Here is what we have:
You bust your ass… You’re the Superhero employee. However, you have nothing to show for it.- Many people are victim of this. Many will call it dedication. Someone else will see this as being used. You are!!! You show up to work on time, go way more than the extra mile, you stay late covering others, running errands. You ask for an advancement or raise. You hear excuse after excuse. Or, soon as you make one mistake. Your name is MUD. Remember…. You are exposable.
Your skills are not being put to use- Many times we are selling the hell out of ourselves. During these interviews. We impressed the employer, we get hired. Then suddenly, each idea you bring to the table is shut down. Or, they steal your idea and take credit for it. You get hired for a top position. However, the work you are doing is way below your talent. If you hire him as a chef. Why is he standing there hosting?
You are simply stuck in a rut- Yikes!!! You come to work and you are doing the exact same thing. Every single day it is the same thing. There hasn’t been any change. You’re not growing and you’ve become stagnant. You’re employers don’t notice because… Either, you’re not being vocal about it. Or, it’s beneficial to them. Don’t get stuck!!!!
You mentally checked out- It happens. You aren’t happy anymore. You realize there is absolutely no fulfillment whatsoever. Most of the time you are unhappy, mistreated, misunderstood, bored, thwarted. You’re applying for jobs while you should be working. You are leaving your house at the time you should be at work. You completely shut everyone out. You end up thinking… “How the hell did I get here?? How can get out?” Go with your gut!! Run!!!!!!
The environment is just toxic as hell- Most environments have the gossiping, narcissism you can either avoid it. Or, fall into the trap. Or, your employer shows favoritism. How they treat others is a reflection of how they treat you. You’ll have horrible employees that will get treated nicer than the stellar employees. Your employers are gossiping with the employees. It should be bright when it is dark.
